The weak market conditions in the major markets Europe and Asia lead to a weak business development of Von Roll in the third quarter 2012. Order intake declined by 11% to CHF 386 million. The industrial group sales totaled CHF 386 million, 5.9% lower than in the third quarter 2011. Von Roll Insulation business line sales likewise declined by 5.9% compared with the prior year period, to CHF 235 million. Order intake by this business line, the most important sales contributor, declined by 13.6% to CHF 224 million. Sales by the Von Roll Composites business line declined by 4.5% to CHF 107 million, with 3.5% lower order intake at CHF 110 million. Von Roll Technologies business line sales declined by 8.1% to CHF 44 million, with 13.5% lower order intake at CHF 52 million for the period under review. Since January 1, 2012 the Von Roll business lines are no longer organized by customer market applications, but according to Von Roll production process activities. The newly formed Von Roll Technologies segment covers all applications in the business areas Von Roll Transformers, Von Roll Water and Von Roll Solar, whereas Von Roll Solar discontinued its research activities by 30 June 2012. Prior year figures have been adjusted accordingly.
