Blaubeuren, March 11, 2008 - centrotherm photovoltaics AG, based in the
town of Blaubeuren in the Germany state of Baden-Württemberg, has opened
two new locations abroad: effective immediately, the provider of
technology and services for the production of solar cells and solar
silicon is represented in Treviso, Italy by fully-owned subsidiary
centrotherm photovoltaics Italia S.R.L. Italy offers attractive feed-in
fees for solar power, and is growing in importance for the photovoltaics
industry. In the past, centrotherm photovoltaics has already received an
order from Helios, Italy, for several megawatt turn-key lines for the
production of solar cells. In the future, such orders will be processed
by locals in Italy, in order to provide even faster service locally.
In the US, in Atlanta, Georgia, centrotherm photovoltaics USA Inc. has
also begun operations. This is also a fully-owned subsidiary of
centrotherm photovoltaics AG. The first order in the US has already come
in: Atlanta-based Suniva Inc., a new producer of crystalline silicone
solar cells, has ordered a 25 megawatt turn-key line. Delivery will begin
in 2008.
By establishing these bases abroad, the company is moving forward with
its strategy of expanding its international market position. "We will
consequently continue to follow this strategy," says Robert Hartung, CEO
of centrotherm photovoltaics AG. "We are in process of founding further
branches abroad in order to provide even better service locally to our
international customers." In addition to activities in Asia, where the
company currently derives 70 percent of its sales, centrotherm
photovoltaics plans to further expand business in the US and Europe.
Hartung: "We intend to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the
globally expanding photovoltaics market."
