throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada, hosted UK Climate
Change Minister Greg Barker at the company's EnergySMART 2010 Conference from
September 22-24th. The Minister's visit included a private tour of EnerNOC's
Network Operations Center, which manages a constant stream of data from more

Minister Barker's visit followed announcements by the British government to
expect new 'Green Deal' legislation in the fall of 2010 that will bolster the
nation's pledge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent by 2050 and
could create up to 250,000 jobs over the next 20 years.
'The UK needs to revolutionize the way electricity is used and generated to cut
emissions and increase security of supply,' said Barker. 'Managing demand is a
logical first step, so I was delighted to be invited to learn more about the
pioneering work EnerNOC is doing in this area. I'm pleased EnerNOC has expanded
its UK-based operations in order to bring its expertise to the UK's energy
market.'
During Barker's visit, EnerNOC's UK-based network was dispatched in response to
electrical system needs in National Grid's Short Term Operating Reserve (STOR)
market, as well as several regions across the United States.
'Minister Barker understands that energy management is not only good for the
environment, it's good for the economy,' said David Brewster, president of
EnerNOC. 'The United Kingdom has shown that it is committed to becoming an
engine of change in the green business sector, as well as in energy efficiency
and carbon management initiatives. We were honored to host Minister Barker for
the first annual EnergySMART conference.'
